The lease agreement between the parties had a definite term, which expired on 30th June 2020. Although the landlord continued to receive rent after the expiry, this did not revive the Tribunal's jurisdiction over the matter, as the original reference was filed during the pendency of the fixed-term lease. The Tribunal concluded that it could not breathe life into the reference, and the tenant should have sought recourse in the appropriate court.
