The court further clarified that the correct interest rate to be applied is 12% per annum, in accordance with the Chief Justice's practice direction, and not 14% which is only applicable to advocate/client bills. The Deputy Registrar was therefore correct in including interest in the value of the subject matter, but must recalculate using the 12% rate.
