The court held that under Rule 11(3) of the Advocates Remuneration Order, leave of the court is a mandatory prerequisite before an appeal can be filed against a judge's decision on a reference from the Taxing Master. The client had filed a notice of appeal without obtaining such leave, and the notice was also defective as it referred to the wrong date of the ruling. However, the application for leave was filed within a reasonable time, and there was no substantive prejudice to the advocate apart from compensable inconvenience.
