The High Court lacks jurisdiction to review a sentence already affirmed by a court of similar jurisdiction, as its revisionary powers under the Criminal Procedure Code are limited to subordinate courts. However, in light of recent Court of Appeal decisions declaring indeterminate life sentences unconstitutional and substituting them with determinate terms, the court found it appropriate to translate the applicant's life sentence to a term of 30 years' imprisonment, to run from the date the applicant was remanded in custody, in accordance with Section 333(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
