Discrepancies between the bank statements and cheques produced, as well as inconsistencies in account numbers, undermined the reliability of the plaintiff's evidence. The court held that the requirements of section 177 of the Evidence Act were not satisfied, and thus the bank statements could not be treated as prima facie evidence under section 176.
