The court found that the plaintiffs had been in continuous, open, and exclusive possession of the suit parcels since at least 1995, having purchased the land from Okoa Development Company Ltd, which was not the registered owner. Despite this, the registered owners (defendants) were aware of the plaintiffs' occupation and did not assert their rights or take any steps to remove them for over seventeen years. The court held that the plaintiffs' possession satisfied the requirements for adverse possession: it was neither by force, secrecy, nor permission, and was adverse to the interests of the registered owners.
