The court held that where the taxing officer's ruling contains reasons for the decision, it is unnecessary for a party to request further reasons. However, if a party does request reasons and the taxing officer responds, the time for filing a reference runs from the date of that response. In this case, the taxing officer's ruling delivered on 19th November 2015 contained reasons, but the client requested further reasons on 1st December 2015, and the taxing officer replied on 8th December 2015.
