Ratio Decidendi

Under section 51(2) of the Advocates Act, the court is empowered to enter judgment for the sum certified in the absence of any dispute as to the retainer or the certificate. The court also held that interest at 14% per annum is payable from 30 days after service of the bill of costs, which in this case was served on 7/4/2025, making interest applicable from 8/5/2025. Accordingly, judgment was entered for the applicant for the certified sum with interest as specified.
