Ratio Decidendi

The court found that there was no dispute as to the advocate's retainer, the certificate of taxation had not been set aside or altered, and the respondent had not opposed the application. The law allows the court to enter judgment on a certificate of taxation in such circumstances. The applicant was also entitled to interest at 14% per annum from 30 days after delivery of the bill, as provided by Rule 7 of the Advocates Remuneration Order, since the bill was delivered on 17.1.17 and interest accrues from 17.2.17. The court therefore granted judgment for the taxed amount, interest as claimed, and costs of the application.
