Ratio Decidendi

The court found that the applicant was duly instructed by the respondent and rendered legal services for which costs were taxed. There was no dispute as to retainer, and the certificate of taxation had not been set aside or altered. The law allows the court to enter judgment on such a certificate. Additionally, Rule 7 of the Advocates Remuneration Order entitles the advocate to interest at 14% per annum from 30 days after delivery of the bill, which in this case was 17.2.17. The respondent did not oppose the application. Therefore, the applicant was entitled to judgment for the taxed costs, interest as claimed, and costs of the application.
