The High Court held that the magistrate's court acted without jurisdiction in reviewing and setting aside the judgment adopting the Land Disputes Tribunal's award. Section 7(2) of the Land Disputes Tribunal Act mandates that the magistrate's court must enter judgment in accordance with the tribunal's decision and does not permit review, alteration, or setting aside of the award. Any party aggrieved by the tribunal's decision must either appeal to the Appeals Committee or seek judicial review in the High Court.
