The court found that the Land Disputes Tribunal lacked jurisdiction to determine the issue of ownership of land that was already registered under the Registered Lands Act as a first registration. The tribunal's powers under Section 3(1) of the Land Disputes Tribunal Act are limited to matters of division, boundaries, occupation, and trespass, and do not extend to proprietary rights or ownership of registered land. Since the applicant's title was a first registration, it was protected by Section 143 of the Registered Lands Act.
