The court found that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused caused the unlawful death of the deceased by stabbing him, as corroborated by circumstantial evidence, forensic analysis, and the dying declaration. However, the court determined that the prosecution failed to prove malice aforethought to the required standard, as the evidence did not exclude the reasonable possibility that the stabbing occurred during a sudden fight or in self-defence. The benefit of doubt as to intent was given to the accused.
