The court found that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused persons. The only eyewitness testimony was not sufficiently corroborated, and no medical evidence was presented to confirm that the deceased died as a result of injuries allegedly inflicted by the accused. The repeated failure of prosecution witnesses to attend court further weakened the case. In the absence of sufficient evidence to link the accused to the death of the deceased, the court held that requiring the accused to make a defence would be futile.
