The applicant was compelled to file the mandamus application to enforce payment of the decretal sum, which was only settled after the application was filed. Therefore, the applicant is entitled to the costs of the application and interest thereon. The court further held that interest on the decretal sum should be computed at the rate of 14% per annum up to the date of payment, and any further interest accrued after payment is also due to the applicant.
