The court held that the offences for which the applicant was convicted were committed on different dates, at different times, in different places, and involved different complainants. As such, they did not arise from a single transaction, and the principle of concurrent sentences did not apply. The sentences were therefore to run consecutively. Regarding the period spent in pre-trial custody, the court found that the trial magistrate had already accounted for this period by ordering that the sentence commence from the date the applicant was admitted to custody.
