The court found that although the plaintiffs had been in occupation of the suit land for over 12 years, their claim for adverse possession could not succeed because the land was registered in the name of the Settlement Fund Trustees (SFT) until 2017. Adverse possession cannot run against SFT, as its interest is not extinguishable under the Limitation of Actions Act. The limitation period for adverse possession could only begin once the defendants became registered proprietors in 2017, and the suit was filed in 2018, which is insufficient to meet the 12-year requirement.
