Somo v Republic (Criminal Revision E006 of 2026) [2026] KEHC 5361 (KLR) (13 April 2026) (Ruling) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 5361 (KLR) Republic of Kenya In the High Court at Kibera Criminal Revision E006 of 2026 DR Kavedza, J April 13, 2026 Between Ali Bukura Somo Applicant and Republic Respondent Ruling 1.The Applicant moved this Court by way of revision seeking review of the orders of the trial court denying him bail.The Applicant was admitted to bail on the following terms: cash bail of Kenya Shillings Fifty Thousand (Kshs. 50,000) with one contact person, or in the alternative, a bond of Kenya Shillings Two Hundred Thousand (Kshs. 200,000) with one surety of a similar amount, to be approved by the Court. The Applicant was directed shall not have any direct or indirect contact with the complainant, Caroline Wanjiku Chambolle, pending the hearing and determination of the trial. 2.Subsequently, the complainant made an oral application alleging that the Applicant had breached the bail terms by initiating telephone contact, contrary to the conditions imposed by the Court. 3.The Court warns the Applicant against any form of contact with the complainant. For the avoidance of doubt, the prohibition extends to both direct and indirect contact, including communication through third parties such as family members, friends, or associates.
