The court found that the respondent's suit was statute-barred because the cause of action for breach of contract accrued on or about 9 March 2006, when the appellant allegedly failed to harvest the sugarcane. Under Section 4(1) of the Limitation of Actions Act, the respondent was required to file suit within six years of the breach, i.e., by 9 March 2012. The suit was filed on 24 October 2014, more than two years outside the limitation period. The court held that the trial court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit and should have struck it out. Additionally, the contract was not properly produced as an exhibit, and there was no evidentiary basis for the award of damages....
