The tenants' offer to pay Kshs. 23,062 per month was deemed insufficient given the landlords' valuer's assessment of Kshs. 72,000 as reasonable rent. The court therefore ordered that the tenants pay Kshs. 45,000 per month as rent and deposit the balance of Kshs. 12,000 monthly in a joint interest-bearing account in the names of the parties' advocates, effective from 1st October 2007.
