The award of Kshs. 200,000 for pain, suffering, and loss of amenities was deemed too low given the amputation of the appellant's left arm and the 60% permanent incapacity. The Court substituted this with an award of Kshs. 400,000. On loss of earning capacity and future earnings, the Court accepted the agreed multiplier of 20 years and the monthly salary of Kshs. 5,290, resulting in a gross figure of Kshs. 1,269,600, reduced by 10% for contributory negligence.
