The High Court held that once the magistrate found he lacked pecuniary jurisdiction, he was correct to down his tools and refer the matter to the Chief Magistrate for directions rather than revoking the grant himself. The power to revoke a grant is subject to the pecuniary jurisdiction of the magistrate, and since the estate's value exceeded the magistrate's jurisdiction, he could not proceed to revoke the grant. The Chief Magistrate, having the requisite jurisdiction, is empowered to give directions, including revocation if appropriate.
