The court found that, although the statutory period for filing an appeal had lapsed, the applicant had demonstrated good and sufficient cause for the delay, particularly in light of the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The court exercised its discretion under section 79G of the Civil Procedure Act to enlarge the time for filing an appeal, granting both parties 30 days from the date of the ruling to file their appeals. Regarding the stay of execution, the court held that the application was made without undue delay and that the applicant would suffer substantial loss if the entire decretal sum was paid out before the appeal was determined, especially given the quantum involved...
