The Court of Appeal held that the respondent made substantial indirect contributions to the acquisition of the matrimonial property through her salaried employment, payment of household expenses, supervision of workers, and domestic support, which enabled the appellant to save and service the mortgage. However, the respondent's entitlement was limited to the period of cohabitation, as she ceased contributing after leaving the matrimonial home in 1986. The mortgage was not fully paid until 1995, long after her departure, and she could not benefit from payments made thereafter. The respondent was therefore entitled to a 30% share of the matrimonial property as at the time she left, but not...
