In re AT (Adoption Cause E036 of 2026) [2026] KEHC 12046 (KLR) (Family) (30 July 2026) (Judgment) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 12046 (KLR) Republic of Kenya In the High Court at Nairobi (Milimani Law Courts) Family Adoption Cause E036 of 2026 HK Chemitei, J July 30, 2026 IN THE MATTER OF BABY AT In the matter of WNN Applicant Judgment 1.The Applicant Originating summons dated 16th February 2026 seeks the following orders:(a)That the Applicant be authorised to adopt Baby AT, a minor.(b)That henceforth Baby AT shall be known as AJTT.(c)That the Registrar General be directed to enter this adoption into the Adopted Children’s Register.(d)That the Registrar of Births and Deaths do issue the child with a birth certificate with the new name.(e)That the minor be presumed to be a Kenyan citizen by birth.(f)That NNN be appointed as the legal guardian of the minor. 2.The application is based on the grounds thereof, the statement in support and the affidavit all dated 9th February 2026. 3.The Court on 16th April 2026 while appointing HMN as the legal guardian directed that a report be prepared by the Children’s Department. 4.The said report dated 4th May 2026 is on record and I have perused the same extensively and found it positive. 5.The parties appeared in court on 28th May 2026 albeit online and upon examination by the Court, all appeared to appreciate their respective responsibilities towards the minor. 6.In the premises and based on the paper trail on record I do find the summons meritorious and the same is hereby allowed as prayed. 7.HMN is hereby discharged as guardian ad litem. 8.Costs in the cause.
