About this statute
This is a heading for the chapter on the church’s confession, task, and members. The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church states that it confesses the Christian faith based on the Bible and expressed in the three ancient creeds and the Lutheran confessional writings. The church’s task, in line with its confession, is to proclaim the word of God, administer the sacraments, and otherwise work to spread the Christian message and realize love of neighbor. Regler om hur man blir medlem i kyrkan, inklusive dop, medlemskap för vissa barn och personer med anknytning till Finland, samt att man inte får vara medlem i ett annat religionssamfund samtidigt. Church membership ends if the member leaves the church, joins another religious community, no longer has a municipality of residence or registration municipality in Finland, or—if a foreign member without residence—no longer lives in Finland.
