This section amends section 1 of the principal Act by replacing the definition of “Convention.” The Convention is given force of law in the Republic, subject to this Act, and the Minister must update the Schedule in the Gazette when the Convention is amended. The Minister must amend the Schedule by Gazette notice as soon as possible after commencement for the Republic whenever the Convention is amended. The Authority may issue technical standards for marine pollution from ships, if the matters are prescribed by regulation. Those standards have the force of law.
