Benefits from the fund are payable only after a written application is filed, all required contributions have been received, and the member or former member has terminated service.
A former member with 12 or more years of credited service, whose employment ends before normal retirement eligibility, may leave contributions in the fund and later qualify for a regular retirement benefit when the required age is reached.
Members may retire by written application to the board once eligible, and benefit payments depend on when the application is filed.
A member of this fund cannot draw more than one retirement from the fund at the same time, except a surviving spouse may draw both retirement benefits and surviving spouse benefits at once.
