RSA 261:12. Duplicate Certificate.
If a title certificate is lost, stolen, mutilated, destroyed, or illegible, certain listed persons may apply for a duplicate; the department cannot issue a new certificate to a transferee or dealer for 15 days after a duplicate application is received, and anyone who recovers the original must promptly return it.
