A solicitor who remains on the record and has not validly terminated the retainer under rule 4.2 is not free to withdraw solely because legal aid has been withdrawn; absence of legal aid is not automatically a ground for adjournment and the court will refuse an adjournment where the retainer continues, no reasonable notice or assistance to find new counsel has been given, and prejudice and court administration considerations outweigh the applicant's position.
- Adjournment
- Withdrawal of counsel
- Retainer termination
- Leave to commence proceedings out of time
