The applicants' employment contracts were fixed term and expired on 14th June 2021. The purported extension letters of 31st May 2021 were invalid as they were not supported by a board resolution and were issued before the new board assumed office. Remaining in office after contract expiry for handover purposes and payment of full salary did not create a reasonable expectation of renewal or amount to contract renewal. The CMA award was correct in finding the termination fair and the application lacked merit.
