The magistrate was entitled to convict because the appellant's admission that he knew the women had "sneaked into Hong Kong" constituted knowledge of unlawful entry and, when combined with the immigrants' admissions and the s.63A Certificate (from which the court properly inferred no s.13 authorisation), established the necessary elements of the offence; therefore the appeal against conviction was dismissed.
