The bill of lading did not comply with Article 23(a)(i) of UCP 500 because it did not, on its face, indicate the name of the carrier as such nor identify the capacity of the signer as Master or named agent; therefore the bank was entitled to refuse the documents and the plaintiff's claim is dismissed.
