The court stayed the Hong Kong proceedings and ordered the matter to return to the Principal Registry in London because, despite Hong Kong having jurisdiction, England was the clearly more appropriate forum given the recent comprehensive English hearing and orders, strong connecting factors to England (habitual residence prior to relocation, prior shared residence order, parental conduct and expectations), and the need for a single governing jurisdiction for enforcement and governance concerns.
