The court determined that shared household costs used by both mother and child are not solely the mother's personal expenses; only the child's attributable half of those shared costs should be included in calculating the child's reasonable monthly expenses. The court calculated the child's monthly expenses at HK$9,808.5, half of which is HK$4,904.25; having regard to the respondent's offer, the court accepted the respondent's undertaking to pay HK$5,000 per month as an appropriate interim maintenance order, payable monthly from 1 June 2017 into the applicant's designated bank account.
