Section 101(2) authorises any person to arrest where there are reasonable grounds to suspect commission of an arrestable offence; the Magistrate correctly found reasonable suspicion of theft here so the attempt to apprehend was lawful and the conviction for assault to prevent lawful apprehension stands; the application for leave was out of time and disclosed no arguable point, so no extension of time was granted and the application was dismissed.
