On the facts the defendant did not breach the duty of care: the clinical presentation on 17 October supported a diagnosis of at least a superficial portal wound infection, the decision not to aspirate on 17 October and to commence antibiotics and to hand over care to Dr Lee pending rapid test results was within a responsible body of medical opinion and could withstand logical analysis; plaintiff failed to prove negligence or causation on a balance of probabilities.
