There is no duty to treat a co-accused's evidence as accomplice evidence requiring corroboration; however, an alternative verdict of handling stolen goods can only be returned if the Crown proves beyond reasonable doubt that the receiving occurred otherwise than in the course of the stealing/robbery, and because the trial judge's directions were inadequate on that point the convictions for handling must be quashed while the firearms convictions stand.
