The trial judge performed a detailed and reasonable credibility analysis, had the advantage of observing witnesses, and his findings that supported conviction were not irrational; accordingly the appeal against conviction is dismissed.

The absence of evidence of any triad activity or association from 1980 until the 1995 statement, combined with the thin nature of the prosecution case and the limited probative value of the caution statement, raised a reasonable doubt such that the conviction was unsafe and had to be set aside.

Conviction for robbery is justified where the accused is found in recent possession of property that can be identified as the property stolen in the charged offence; however, where the property in the accused's possession cannot be connected to the specific robbery charge beyond reasonable doubt, the conviction on that charge cannot stand.
