The Court held that absent exceptional circumstances no costs order should be imposed on an accused who exercises the right to trial; the sentencing judge failed to inquire into the appellant's financial means and there was no evidence that the appellant's conduct caused extra prosecution costs. Consequently the costs order of $100,000 was not just and reasonable and must be quashed.
