The trial magistrate's adverse credibility findings and factual conclusions were open to him on the evidence; the appellant failed to establish a genuine and objectively reasonable excuse for carrying an offensive weapon (no imminent threat, baton unsuitable for claimed purpose, inconsistent accounts and absence of corroborative evidence); appellants' procedural fairness complaint failed because cross‑examination on credibility did not change the prosecution's case; accordingly the conviction was safe and must be upheld.
