The magistrate properly satisfied himself that the 11‑year‑old victim understood the affirmation and was a credible, precocious witness; the inconsistencies in evidence were immaterial; the magistrate was entitled to convict on the child's testimony and to impose a four‑month custodial sentence given the seriousness of threats and likely harm to the child; therefore the appeals against conviction and sentence are dismissed.
