On the balance of probabilities the glass pane detached due to insufficient application of silicone gel adhesive (design/workmanship defect) rather than external impact; that failure constituted negligence by the defendant and caused the plaintiff’s injuries; counterclaim for defamation failed.

On the balance of probabilities the court found the explosion was caused by LPG residue leaking from one or both of two apparently empty Gulf cylinders due to defective 1977 Gulf valves; HK Oil Co.
