The court held that there was no subsisting copyright in the pre-1973 drawings and, by majority, that the Tyco adapter brick did not infringe Interlego's 1976 2x4 brick drawing because the differences (notably under-surface differences) were sufficient to negate substantial reproduction; clerical errors in the record/exhibit numbering did not change these conclusions.
