Defendants, as hosts of the forum, were subordinate distributors rather than primary publishers; the common law defence of innocent dissemination exists in Hong Kong and was not abolished by s.25 of the Defamation Ordinance; the defence failed for the March 2007 posting (due to negligent delay in removal) but succeeded for the October 2008 and January 2009 postings; the global award of HK$100,000 for the corporate plaintiffs was within the reasonable range and the appeal was dismissed.
