For two first offenders who committed pickpocketing with a division of roles and a cross‑border element the court set an uplifted starting point of 18 months for theft, applied a one‑third discount for plea reducing imprisonment to 12 months; the second defendant received a reduced term of 10 months because of a lesser role; the first defendant received an additional 15 months for illegal entry to be served consecutively, resulting in a total effective sentence of 27 months for the first defendant.
