Where the prosecution's sole evidence was the appellant's confession containing bald admissions that he was a 'blue lantern' and that a poem was the Society's title poem, the conviction could not stand because there was no expert or corroborative evidence to establish that those admissions had the specialized factual content required to prove membership, and there were no grounds to treat the appellant as an expert; judicial notice could not supply the missing proof for a less documented society such as Sun Yee On, and the appellant's assertion of disassociation should not have been rejected…
