The Court held that in this particularly heinous offence involving corrosive fluid severe, deterrent sentences are justified; the first appellant's ten‑year concurrent sentences were proper and his appeal against sentence was dismissed; the second appellant's conviction was upheld but, because he played a minor role, was 18 and had a clear record, his concurrent sentences were reduced from eight to five years.
