Although the Watson direction was unnecessary, the particular wording used in this trial did not contain the problematic boardroom analogy or repeated loose exhortations seen in Chan Ka-man, there was no evidence of a 4-3 deadlock or coercion, and the jury reached verdicts without shown prejudice; accordingly the convictions and sentence were safe and the appeals were dismissed.
