The definition in s.2 contemplates a conventional hotel that holds out accommodation to persons presenting themselves; because there was no evidence Triview accepted walk‑in guests or otherwise held out accommodation to 'any person presenting himself', the Magistrate was wrong to find Triview was operating a hotel and the conviction cannot stand.
